Oy Dra

Oy Dra is an RRC star that is located in the constellation Draco, which is estimated to be 550 million years old. (RA 13:08:41.83, Dec 65:40:00.05). As of today, April 17th, this star was last observed 15 days ago, therefore this photometry that I used ranges from 01/29/2012 – 04/02/2024.

I was able to use the photometry “csv” file (which had thousands of different bits of information including magnitude, flux, etc) to create an updated “best period” of it and create a phase-apparent magnitude that looked like this:

The updated version used advanced technology and coding that may not have been around to classify this star if it was taken in 2012-2020, therefore it may have been a false classification, so reanalyzing the data is an important thing to do. In the end, OY Dra was an RRC Lyrae variable star because of its similar patterns on the graph. What is interesting is the amount data that does not seem to fit in, which may be an error with the best period of the graph, or old data that was not observed with newer technology so it differs from new data.

Overall, though this star still classifies as an RRC, due to the graph, I believe the information for this star should be revised for a more accurate result.
