ASAS J045816-0013.9 Variable Star is Actually an ELL Star 😱

This unidentified star, ASAS J045816-0013.9, was initially classified by AI as falling between the RRC, EC, and ESD star types. I became one of the first people to properly classify this star, as machines sometimes get confused between different variable star types. After using sky patrol to obtain the CSV file, I uploaded it along with a light curve graph into Google Codelab. There, I manually determined the period of this star and compared it to various classifications. It was a bit challenging as there are many that looked similar but eventually I concluded that it’s an EW star. After double-checking with an expert in this field, we narrowed it down further to “possibly being an ELL type, which is essentially an EW star without actual eclipses, just the changing orientation of a peanut as the stars orbit each other” (Janzen, 2024). I am proud to be the first to reclassify this star to its proper type.
