How do I get added to the blog so I can post?

Before you can start creating blog posts on the Branching Out blog, you must get added to the blog’s list of “Users.” Follow these simple steps to enable the blog administrators to add you to this list. These steps must be completed before you can start blogging.

  1. Log on to the UofS WordPress site. Go to the Sites (sites.usask.ca) page and log in using your NSID and password. 
  2. Once you are logged in, you will be taken into your WordPress profile page. You may fill in as much Profile information as you wish. The only things that is mandatory is filling in a “First Name.” Click on “Update Profile” when you are finished. Then simply “Log Out” at the top of the page.
  3. After you have logged out, submit a Web Editors request to be added to the Branching Out blog. Please indicate that you have already logged in and out of the UofS WordPress platform, and include your NSID.
  4. As soon as an administrator has added your name to the blog, you will receive an invitation email to join the blog, including a confirmation link.
  5. Once you click on the confirmation link – start posting!

How do I create a post?

Please note that you must be “added” to the blog in order to create a post. Follow the steps above in order to become a contributor, then you may start blogging away.

  1. Start at the UofS WordPress blog service web page and log in with your NSID and password.
  2. You will open up in your Profile page. Hover the cursor over the “ + New ” option at the top of the page and chose “Post.”
  3. Now that you are in the Dashboard, hover over the “ + New ” option at the top of the page and chose “Post.” contributor profile page
  4. Start filling in the blanks: enter the title of your post in the upper field, and enter the content in the main post editing box below it. As needed, select a category, add tags, and make other selections from the sections on the right of the page. When you are done writing your post you may: 1) save it as a Draft, 2) Preview the post, 3) Submit for Review, or 4) send it to the Trash. contributor post

How do I comment on a post?

Commenting is as easy as 1 – 2 – 3:

  1. There are two options for placing a comment: leave a replyClicking on either of these will send you to a large “Leave a Reply” box. This box requires that you enter your name and email in order for your comment to be submitted.
  2. Once you have filled in the required fields as well as the “Comment” field, hit the big green “Post Comment” icon at the bottom of the page.
  3. All comments are held for moderation because of the public nature of the blog. Moderation allows the filtering of spam. As soon as comments go through moderation, they appear in order underneath the post.

How do I add an image to the Photos page?

**Note that any photos that contain people will need to have the permission of those people to post online. Verbal permission is sufficient.
**Note that if you remove your image from the media library, it will no longer appear in the blog.

See the instructions from Microsoft for adding RSS feeds to Outlook 2016. Follow these instructions using the Outlook app installed on your computer, do NOT do it in the web version of Outlook.
