About Us

OUR TEAM

Our team is composed of 12 nursing students, a pharmacy student and 4 professionals from the University of Saskatchewan College of Nursing and College of Pharmacy. We are passionate about providing evidence-based information to kids about cannabis so that they can make informed choices. We are partnering with staff and students from four schools within the Saskatoon Public School and Saskatoon Greater Catholic School Divisions.

The Safe School Health Improvement Project (Safe SHIP) & School Health Initiative with Nursing Education (SHINE) Programs

The Safe SHIP and SHINE programs are community-based partnerships between the College of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan and two elementary schools and two high schools in Saskatoon (St. Luke, North Park Wilson, Bishop James Mahoney, and Tommy Douglas). These projects bring nursing students from the U of S into the school environment to fulfill clinical hours for their education program in the area of community partnership, capacity building and community development. In this setting, nursing students focus on the health of the students and families by fostering and improving awareness and perceptions of health and implementation of the concepts of health and wellness within the school environment and surrounding community.

CRIS (Cannabis Research Initiative of Saskatchewan)

The Cannabinoid Research Initiative of Saskatchewan is an interdisciplinary research team that aims to obtain scientific evidence about the application of cannabinoids and cannabis derivatives to humans and animals for health, disease, and disorders. This project is being funding by CRIS.
