Contest Details
The DEU Bridging the Distance Prize is awarded twice a year to instructors and learning technology support staff at the University of Saskatchewan who share exemplary examples and stories that inspire those of us working in online teaching and learning everyday.
Through a USask call for submissions, we’re looking for you to share your short articles, activities, and stories highlighting your winning moments with educational technology in an online teaching and learning context. This contest is open to all USask faculty and teaching staff, as well as learning technology support staff,.
Stories, activities, and articles submitted to DEU through this contest will be shared with the USask community via the DEU Digest and on the DEU EdTech blog during the contest and beyond to help inspire and promote the great work being done in online teaching and learning here at the University of Saskatchewan. Possible topics may include, but are not limited to:

- Awesome online learning activities
- Unique uses of a learning technology
- Connecting with students through technology
- Unique synchronous strategies/activities
- Asynchronous activities students loved
- Group work students didn’t hate
- Course designs that brought it all together
Prizes
First Prize
As an incentive to participate and a reward for being awesome, the DEU Instructional Design team will select our favourite story at the end of the term. The winner will receive a Blue Yeti Nano USB condenser microphone to help support your online teaching practice!
Second and Third Prizes
Two runner up prizes will also be awarded. Details to come.
Early Bird Prizes
As an additional incentive to get your stories submitted today, the first two stories we receive will receive an early bird prize!
Submission and Review Process
Contest Submissions can be made to deu.support@usask.ca. Feel free to include images and media as part of your submissions. Please use Subject Line: Bridging the Distance Submission and in your email include:

- Author name
- Author email address
- USask Affiliation (College, School, Dept., or Unit)
- Title of submission
- Written body of submission (word length is flexible, ~500 words recommended)
- Files or links for any additional media attachments you wish to include (e.g., Word document, images, video, website, etc.)
By submitting to the contest you agree to allow DEU to share your submission under a Creative Commons Attribution license both through the DEU Digest and on the DEU EdTech blog throughout the contest and beyond as a way to inspire and support your fellow colleagues.
Submissions can take place from now until Dec. 6th. A winner will be chosen and announced in the DEU Digest on December 13th
We encourage you to enter early so we may begin sharing these stories with the USask community and spread the inspiration for great online teaching and learning.
The Instructional Design Team at DEU will review the submissions and choose our favourites and make the prize announcements in the Dec. 13th issue of the DEU Digest.
