Do-it-yourself media production facilities that allow you to create professional video assets for a variety of uses. Create learning materials for a flipped or online course. Support research mobilization with motion picture. Produce communications materials that tell a story.

U-CREATE STUDIO

This DIY Recording Studio is a dedicated video capture room where instructors can easily record professional looking lectures and presentations with easy and leave with a finished video file on their USB drive. The U-Create offers a simple way to create academic presentations, video communications or record interviews with minimal support needed. Free for USask faculty and staff members.

LIGHTBOARD STUDIO

A lightboard or learning glass is a device for creating interactive videos for teaching and learning. It is a glass panel with LED lights that can be written on with markers. The instructor faces the camera and writes on the glass, and the image is flipped for the viewers. It helps the instructor communicate effectively and illustrate complex concepts visually. It can be used for various subjects that involve technical or graphical content . Free for USask faculty and staff members.

MEDIA PRODUCTION FACILITIES

Media Production operates and maintains a variety of production and post-production facilities to support major media production developments with our USask partners. These facilities support projects for teaching and learning, research mobilization, multi-camera live video streaming, event production support and much more.

PRODUCTION STUDIO B

Studio B is a large 1500 sq. ft. soundstage with 12ft. ceilings and a dedicated DMX Controlled lighting grid. This media production space can accommodate a wide array of filming setups and features a 20'x20' green screen, a 208" Da-Lite Cinema projection screen and Sony high definition projector,  white and blue cyclorama walls, various backdrops, full surround black and grey curtains and more. Studio B has been used for shooting commercials, narrative film scenes, distance education classes, recording orchestral ensembles, live streaming events, media training and much more.

SOUND RECORDING STUDIO

Our Sound Recording Studio consists of a professionally designed control room and separate sound booth. A software based workflow utilizes Focusrite and Zoom hardware and runs Apple’s Logic Pro X and Acon Digital’s Acoustica software for audio restoration and enhancement. This professional facility has accommodated narrators, musicians,  interviews, podcasts and audio books such as Maria Campbell’s “Half Breed” and the “What About Water” podcast. A wide range of mics from Shure, Sennheiser, AKG and Neumann can be configured by our recording engineers for almost any scenario.

POST PRODUCTION AND ANIMATION

XR AND IMMERSIVE MEDIA LAB

This lab space is exploring the use of immersive media production and makes use of such tools as 3D scanners, 360 Video Recorders and Virtual Reality headsets to produce immersive media content for use in teaching and learning at USask.
