As we gather here today, we acknowledge we are on Treaty 6 Territory and the Homeland of the Métis. We pay our respect to the First Nation and Métis ancestors of this place and reaffirm our relationship with one another.

For this assignment we given a choice to adapt and existing OER or create a new one. The decision I made was to create a new one given the focus of my work in recent months. On several occasions I have been invited to support learning connected to land acknowledgements. While the practice gained prominence in late 2015, there are still questions that are being asked regarding the why, who, how, and other wonders that arise.
Reflecting on the learning allowed me to the creation of the graphic below. I always left the session thinking, “What if I had some resource that participants could take with them that would support their learning?” When I read the criteria for this assignment, the question was answered, I could build and infographic that would support the process. A challenge that I was faced with was finding appropriate design software that was accessible.
In the end I chose Canva as I am familiar with the software and the free version allowed me to do design with limited restrictions. The one challenge I faced was being able to embed the infographic in the post. The assignment calls for a format that can be modified, this is not possible with the free Canva version. This is why you will find a PDF of the infographic below. I share this in the short term to have the graphic in the virtual world and will work to reproduce the graphic in a shareable format in the near future. In the meantime, please reach out if you would like to access an editable version, I believe I can share through Canva.
