Campus Safety wishes to warn the public to practice caution after an outbreak of the Norwalk virus occurred on campus.

Norwalk is a gastrointestinal disease caused by the Norwalk virus, or viruses similar to Norwalk.
Symptoms include abdominal cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches, and fever. The symptoms take up to 48 hours to physically manifest, during which time the carrier can pass the virus. Most sufferers recover within 48 hours.
Prevention of Norwalk is as simple as following some common sense tips:
– Wash hands after using the toilet, diapering children, preparing or handling food, or eating;
– Cook foods throroughly
– Wash all sufaces carefully
– If suffering from any symptoms, do not attend campus or work for at least 48 hours after the symptoms have subsided.
