The Centre for Evidence Based Library and Information Practice (C-EBLIP) at the University of Saskatchewan supports librarians as researchers and promotes evidence based library and information practice. Brain-Work, the C-EBLIP blog, broadly covers topics related to research, evidence based library and information practice, and librarianship. The intent of this blog is to be an in-between, or liminal, space for thoughts and ideas that run beyond or prior to the traditional journal article or conference presentation. It is a space for our voices to be heard and a space that allows us to explore our ideas in a more public forum. This blog is written by and for C-EBLIP members – librarians from the University Library, U of S – and will also be contributed to by guests from other areas and other institutions (C-EBLIP Adjunct Members). If you would like more information about participating as an Adjunct Member, contact Catherine Boden at catherine.boden@usask.ca.

The blog title, Brain-Work, comes from a Sherlock Holmes quote in Arthur Conan Doyle’s book, The Sign of the Four. In it, Holmes states, “I cannot live without brain-work. What else is there to live for?” Holmes also asserts, in A Study in Scarlet, that “there is nothing like first-hand evidence.” So despite some of his more extreme character traits, Sherlock Holmes seems like a good muse for this blog.

If contributing to a multi-authored blog with inspiring colleagues intrigues you and you would like more information about participating as a C-EBLIP Adjunct Member, contact catherine.boden@usask.ca.

  1. Hi Virginia,
I am interested in finding out how to become an adjunct member of the C-EBLIP.
    All the best,

    • Adjunct members of C-EBLIP are folks from outside of the University of Saskatchewan Library who write for Brain-Work, the C-EBLIP blog. If anyone is interested in being a Brain-Work contributor, please contact me: virginia.wilson@usask.ca There is a 1-year, 2-post commitment.
