In a continuing effort to combat drinking and driving on the University of Saskatchewan’s roadways Campus Safety increased enforcement for the weekend of September 8 – 10 as well as September 11.

During this four day period, Campus Safety issued the following:
21 AGRA Offence Notices – This refers to the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act. Offence Notices were issued for offences such as Open Container of Alcohol in a Vehicle, Minor Possess Beverage Alcohol, etc.
12 TSA Offence Notices – Offences under the Traffic Safety Act include traffic offences such as Speeding, Fail to Yield to a Pedestrian at a Marked Crosswalk, Fail to Stop for Stop Sign, etc.
6 24-Hour Suspensions – 24-Hour Suspensions are issued to drivers whose blood alcohol content (BAC) is over 40 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood (.04 mg/%). Drivers are taken off the road, their driver’s licence is suspended for 24 hours, and the vehicle the driver was operating is impounded.
1 30 Day Suspension – Under the restrictions of the Graduated Driver Program any driver categorized as a Novice driver cannot operate a motor vehicle with any amount of alcohol in their blood. In this incident the driver was a Class 5 – Novice 1 driver. The driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle the driver was operating was impounded.
