In a continuing effort to combat drinking and driving on the University of Saskatchewan’s roadways Campus Safety increased enforcement for Vanier Cup weekend.

From November 23 to November 26 Campus Safety issued the following:
1 AGRA Offence Notice – This refers to the Alcohol and Gaming Regulations Act. Offence Notices are issued for offences such as Open Container of Alcohol in a Vehicle, Minor Possess Beverage Alcohol, etc.
8 TSA Offence Notices – Offences under the Traffic Safety Act include traffic offences such as Speeding, Fail to Yield to a Pedestrian at a Marked Crosswalk, Fail to Stop for Stop Sign, etc.
4 24-Hour Suspensions – 24-Hour Suspensions are issued to drivers whose blood alcohol content (BAC) is over 40 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood (.04 mg/%). Drivers are taken off the road, their driver’s licence is suspended for 24 hours, and the vehicle the driver was operating is impounded.
2 30 Day Suspensions – Under the restrictions of the Graduated Driver Program any driver categorized as a Novice driver cannot operate a motor vehicle with any amount of alcohol in their blood. In one incident the driver was a Class 5 – Novice 1 driver. The driver’s licence was immediately suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle the driver was operating was impounded. The second incident involved a Class 5 operator driving while prohibited from operating a motor vehicle.
These statistics reflect those charges laid by Campus Safety, and does not include the numbers from the Saskatoon Police Service for that weekend.
