Campus Safety Prevents Suicide

Just after 11pm on November 23rd, two U of S Peace Officers pulled a female subject from the railing of the University Bridge, moments before she intended to jump into the South Saskatchewan River.
Campus Safety was alerted by the Saskatoon Police Service who received a 911 that a female had gone missing from Royal University Hospital. Campus Safety responded to the area immediately and was able to track her to the bridge, where she was found straddling the edge of the railing, her attention focused on a passerby.
Officers could see she was unaware of their presence, and grasped onto her when she was in reach, which enabled them to bring her down to the walkway to safety.
The subject confirmed with Campus Safety that her intention was to jump off the bridge, and officers suggested she seek medical attention. She agreed, and was transported back to Royal University Hospital for treatment.
