Sexual Assault Awareness Week

Sexual Assault Awareness Week will take place on campus from September 10-14. This weeklong series of events exists to encourage discussion within our community about sexual violence and highlight the power that individual voices have to change the culture.

Take Back the Mic

Join us for an evening of reclamation, as local spoken word artists take to the mic to address sexual assault and rewrite the narrative of what it means to be a survivor. The event will take place at Louis’ Loft at 7:00 PM on September 10, featuring performers from Tonight It’s Poetry and Write Out Loud, with a cover charge of $5.

Resource Fair

There will be a passive resource fair occurring in North Concourse within Upper Place Riel from September 11th-13th, featuring a variety of resources from organizations around Saskatoon who specialize in sexual assault, sexual health, healthy relationships, and more.

Women’s Centre Open House

The USSU Women’s Centre will be hosting an open house event on September 12th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the USSU Women’s Centre, located in room 103 in the Memorial Union Building. The event will encourage students to learn the whereabouts of the Women’s Centre, as well as explore the variety of resources they offer to the campus population. There will be free popcorn!

Take Back the Night

Saskatoon Women’s Community Coalition once again presents Take Back the Night: An Annual March to End Violence in the Community on September 13th at the YWCA 506 25th Street East. The evening will begin at 7:00 PM with a gathering at the YWCA and a presentation by local slam poet Elise Pallagi. The community march will begin at 7:30 PM and there will be refreshments following the march and entertainment by Desiree Nieckar. There will be a bus available for individuals that may not be able to walk the entire route. Everyone is welcome! Dress for the weather and be prepared to make some noise.
