USSU News and Events

U-Pass is the USSU undergraduate transit pass, which offers students huge savings on transportation. The U-Pass is mandatory for full and part-time undergraduate students at the U of S. The USSU Spring Term U-Pass is active on April 21. Visit ussu.ca/upass  for Opt-Out information and to learn how to set up your smartphone as your U-Pass.

April 21, 2025

Spring Term U-Pass can be loaded on your phone, but can’t be activated until May 1. Spring Term U-Pass allows you to access Saskatoon Transit from May 1 to June 30. You will be required to activate your U-Pass each term.

Opt-out applications may be submitted online for eligible students enrolled in the Spring Term. You will be required to submit a U-Pass opt-out application each term.

April 30, 2025

Winter Term U-Pass is deactivated at the end of the day. Spring Term U-Pass will be required effective May 1, 2025.

May 6, 2025

Last day to submit opt-out applications for eligible students enrolled in Spring Term Quarter 1 (3 credits) and Quarter 1 & Quarter 2 (6 credits) classes. Completed online forms are due no later than 4:30 pm.

June 3, 2025

Last day to submit opt-out applications for eligible students enrolled in Spring Term Quarter 2 (3 credit classes) . Completed online forms are due no later than 4:30 pm.

June 30, 2025

Spring Term U-Pass is deactivated at the end of the day. Summer Term U-Pass will be required effective July 1, 2025.

Did you know? 

If you’re a Canadian Citizen and 18 years of age by April 28, 2025, you can vote on campus, no matter where your permanent address is, through the Vote on Campus program.

The polling station is conveniently located in Upper Place Riel!

• April 13: 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
• April 14: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
• April 15: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
• April 16: 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM

Bring your ID (go to elections.ca for accepted ID types)

Make sure you know your riding and the candidate you wish to vote for (you will have to write the candidate’s name on your special ballot)

The Barb Yanko Outstanding Citizenship Award recognizes a student who demonstrates leadership within the USask community and is dedicated to promoting equity in education. The recipient actively works to remove barriers for marginalized students, particularly those from low socioeconomic backgrounds, while striving to create more inclusive opportunities on campus. This student serves as a role model, exemplifying strong moral character, integrity, professionalism, kindness, and gratitude.

Walter Murray Leadership Award

This award is presented to a student who has provided leadership beyond the call of duty in enhancing the student experience at the University of Saskatchewan. Please nominate and complete the evaluation of a current undergraduate student who has contributed to creating a positive environment through their leadership roles at the University of Saskatchewan.

Vera Pezer Awards for Student Enhancement

These awards are presented to U of S student volunteers who have given their time and energy to ensure that non-academic facets of the student experience are enhanced.
