As experts work to understand a devastating Himalayan disaster, a Canadian hydrologist says the impacts of melting glaciers here include worsening wildfire, drought and threats to blocked highways.

The director of the University of Saskatchewan’s Centre for Hydrology has been working non-stop ever since, trying to make sense of what happened.

“It’s just horrific,” Pomeroy said.
