Did you know…There’s all new remote teaching resources at USask?

The Remote Teaching & Learning site has been created to support instructors in transforming their face-to-face (F2F) courses into remote courses based on these good practice guidelines for online teaching and learning. In a three stage process, you’ll create your course framework based on the materials and strategies that are already successful elements of your face-to-face class.

You’ll use provided resources and how-to’s to begin building your course in an accessible and remote format. You’ll consider new strategies for connecting with your students and creating a community of learning that engages in the course together. Along the way you’ll find the resources and tools to help build the skills and confidence you need to be the instructor you want to be in a new and changing remote environment.

The comprehensive Remote Course Development Guide from DEU

In this guide we hope to impart some of the thinking and guidance that an Instructional Designer provides during a fully online course development at the Distance Education Unit so that you too can successfully harness your face-to-face teaching skills in a new remote teaching environment.

These 4 modules will help guide your thinking process.

OER Development funding opportunity

As you plan your courses for remote teaching, funding is available to assist you in using open educational resources (OER). These resources allow you to provide students with learning materials they need that can be customized for your specific context and without the cost of expensive textbooks. Several such projects have been created at USask with faculty hiring graduate students to assist in the process. Funding can be used to modify existing OER, create ancillary resources such as test banks or PowerPoint slides, and integrate other open educational practices into your courses.
